30thCongregational Chapter opens June 7, 2015 Mother House, Angers, France

The 30th Congregational Chapter of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd will be held from June 7—July 2, 2015, in Angers, France. The theme is Energized by the Spirit, we risk together for mission.” The Congregational Assembly for Contemplative Sisters and the Intercontinental Assemblies were held in different regions to prepare for the 2015 Congregational Chapter.There will be a total of 131PARTICIPANTS with ex-officio members, elected apostolic and contemplative delegates from the various units, resource persons, invited guests including Mission Partnersand representatives of Temporary Professed Sisters from each region.

The ex-officio members are composed of the Congregational Leadership Team and the province leaders of the congregation. During the Chapter, Sr. Brigid Lawlor, Congregational Leader, and the Congregational Leadership Team (CLT) will present their 2009-2015 Report. Reports will also be presented by the Congregational Treasurer, Mission Development Office, Justice and Peace Office, Congregational Spirituality Centre and the Mother House.

The congregational chapter is a collegial assembly and the highest authority within the congregation. Representative of the congregation, it is a sign of unity and an expression of the participation and interest of all the members in the progress of our mission. It is a spiritual event, a time of corporate reflection and conversion. By promoting renewal in theSPIRIT of our charism, the chapter safeguards our heritage and is a source of life and inspiration for the entire congregation.

The congregational leader, the apostolic and contemplative councils are elected during the congregational chapter. The chapter examines reports on the affairs of the congregation, the directions that have been submitted by congregational assemblies, province chapters, and also those that may be sent by local assemblies and individual sisters. It addresses issues of general concern and decides directions for the entire congregation.
