Pope Francis will visit the Philippines on January 15-19 and will highlight his call for mercy and compassion.
The schedule has been communicated and the Filipinos are eager to welcome him in the Philippines. Pope Francis will meet representatives of different sectors, and will visit the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda.
Good Shepherd Sisters join the faithful in praying for the papal visit and will participate in certain activities, especially the Mass at the Luneta which is open to the public.
On January 15, Sr. Juanita Dano is among the marshalls who will welcome the Pope at Villamor Air Base. The next day, at the Manila Cathedral, Pope Francis will meet with religious men and women from the different dioceses, among them Sr. Socorro Galvez, one of the five religious to represent the Diocese of Virac. Five sisters have also volunteered in the health committee during the papal visit: Sr. Ananita Borbon, Sr. Ailyn Binco, Sr. Emma Marzan, Sr. Loreen Granada and Sr. Cielo Matuloy.
The Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines (AMRSP) has also informed Sr. Regina Kuizon to be one of the 12 provincials and mission partners to represent the association at the January 18 Mass at the Luneta. Sr. Corazon Demetillo, president of the Institute for Formation and Religious Studies will represent the mission partners.
