Good Shepherd Sisters mark 180th year of the establishment of the Generalate

Good Shepherd Sisters worldwide mark on January 16, 2015 the 180th year of the establishment of the

Generalate.

Founded by St. Mary Euphrasia in France, the Good Shepherd congregation was approved by Pope Gregory XVI.

As the 2009 Constitutions states in Article 1: The Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd is an international, apostolic religious institute of pontifical right. As women religious, called to a mssion of reconciliation, we Sisters of the Good Shepherd express our charism of merciful love through an apostolic life or a contemplative life.

United in the same charism we commit ourselves to live the gospel in the spirit of our foundress, St. Mary Euphrasia.

S1.1 We promote the continued development of new forms of association with the congregation.

As the Holy Father Pope Francis visits the country to meet the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda, we are united with him in proclaiming God's mercy and compassion.
