On Thursday August 8th 2013 by the imposition of the hands of Bishop Cirilo Flores of San Diego, Eudist deacon Lawrence Goodwin received the priestly ordination at St James Catholic Church.
The ceremony was very beautiful and with the solemnity and peace which the sacraments always provide,
specially this day with the sacrament of Holy Orders.
All the Eudists of the USA Region were present, seminarians, the Associates, a group from the seminary where Lawrence finished his theological formation and extended Eudist Family and friends as well participated of such great occasion.
The solemnity of the ceremony, the solid responses and participation of the crowd, the exquisite music and choir, the peaceful and prayerful attitude of the bishop and the joyful attitude of Lawrence made of this day and ceremony a gift for us who were present.
The Bishop made sure to remind Lawrence of the obligations and mission in his new ministry and extended the invitation made by pope Francis to be part of the Church that is not self involved, not to remain within closed doors but to go out to the periphery to evangelize.
Just before the final Blessing the now Father Lawrence thanked everyone and reflected with joy in his pathway towards this poignant moment in his life and ministry. He brought the candle which was given to him on the day of his baptism, he lit it up again and remembered how all this began to happen as he felt the call by the Lord Jesus Christ.
After the ordination Lawrence has been going to many communities presiding the Eucharist and sharing the joy of his new ministry, we, the Eudists rejoice with him together for the mission working for Christ and his Church.
