Early morning of July 27, 2015, the Provincialate community was on its way to Alitagtag, Batangas, for the groundbreaking ceremony for Senior High School Building of St. Bridget College Alitagtag. The affair was at 10:00 a.m. and was presided over by Rev. Fr. Carlo Magno Ilagan, parish priest of Alitagtag. The whole school community was present, Grade school pupils and high school students with their class advisers, the faculty and non teaching staff as well. The sisters of St. Bridget College Batangas came, Ssister Bernadette Guzman, prsident and community members. We all prayed to seek God’s blessing as we set apart the ground for the building of the Senior high.
As we said the prayers, cords were laid on the ground stretched across the hole forming the Greek letter X (chi), the symbol of the cross and the name of Christ.
Before the blessing of the time capsule, Sr. Regina, Province leader was asked to give an inspirational message.
Blessing proper:
Priest: Blessed are you, O Lord our God, King of the universe. You fill the entire world with your
presence, your name is to be hallowed throughout the earth. Bless all those who have worked hard to provide the funds, expertise, moral support and encouragement so essential for the building of the Senior High. May this be a place of character building and center for academic excellence where all may come to know the presence of Jesus the Good Shepherd, experience the joy of learning and sharing the gifts of talents, friendship and value formation exemplified by St. John Eudes and Sr. Mary Euphrasia. May your gracious blessing, O Lord, descend like dew from heaven upon this place and upon all who shall gather here. You have given us joy in a work begun in your name. May we soon celebrate your presence in this place and in the time to come, praise and forever, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
The breaking of the ground: the priest blessed the ground, the time capsule and the congregation. It was followed by the laying of the time capsule and each person turn three spadefuls of earth into the hole. The sisters, guest, school officers, architect, engineers, teachers and students representatives each had her turn.
Students of the Performing Arts danced to welcome the Sisters and guests.
Lunch was served in one of the classrooms that was turned into a dining room. The food was cooked by the staff supervised by Sister Aida Casambre. She loves to cook! The contractor gave lechon, shrimps and tilapia.
When everything was finished and done, God blessed the occasion with heavy, heavy rain!
