Eudist shared Prayer September 19, 2016

Brothers and sisters, in this year of mercy and especially these days we are giving thanks to God for the Canonization of Mother Theresa of Calcutta, let’s pray with St. John Eudes.

Song: to be chosen

Reading from Bible: (1 corinthians 13, 3 -8)

And if I give all my goods to the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it is of no profit to me. Love is never tired of waiting; love is kind; love has no envy; love has no high opinion of itself, love has no pride. Love's ways are ever fair, it takes no thought for itself; it is not quickly made angry, it takes no account of evil; it takes no pleasure in wrongdoing, but has joy in what is true; love has the power of undergoing all things, having faith in all things, hoping all things. Though the prophet's word may come to an end, tongues come to nothing, and knowledge have no more value, love has no end.

Reading by St John-Eudes:

Mary’s Heart, full of Godness and charity for us

(ST JOHN EUDES, ADMIRABLE HEART OF MARY, book 9, ch. 4, book II, Ch. 2; 0. C. 7, 461-462; 8, 114-122. 139-140)

«He ever loved only God and what God wants Him to love through and for Him». Among all the Virgin Mary’s feasts, the feast of Her Heart is like the heart and the queen of the over ones, because heart is the backbone of Love and charity. What is the subject of this solemnity? It is the heart unique daughter and beloved of Father; the heart of God’s mother, the heart of Holy Spirit spouse. It is also the heart of Mother of all Christians. It is a love burning heart for God, a heart full of charity for us. It is full of love for God for he ever loved nothing else but God only and what God wanted him to love through and for Him.

Her heart is full of love, because the Blessed Virgin has always loved God with all his heart, all his soul and with all his might. It is not only love because She always wanted what God wanted, and never wanted anything of what He did not want to, but because She has always put all his joy in the very kind God's will. Her Heart is full of love for us. She loves us the same way she loves God, for She looks at us and loves God through us. And she loves us the same way she loves her Son Jesus, the embodiment of God. Because she knows he is our leader and we are His members, and therefore we are one with Him, as members are one with their leader. That's why She looks at us and loves us in the same way as the Son and as Her own children, who share this glorious quality for two reasons. First, because as Mother of the Head is therefore mother of members. Second, because our Savior, when on the cross, gave us to His Mother as Her children. He has given us to Her not only as Queen and Lady, but in the most advantageous quality for which we can imagine that is to say as a mother, telling each of us what he said to his beloved disciple: "Behold your Mother." And He gave us to Her, not just as servants or slaves, which would be a great honor for us, but as a child: "Here is your son," He said, speaking to all of us in the person of St. John, as if He said: "This is all my members that I give you as your children"; I put them in my place, so you look at them as myself, and you love them the same way you love me; love them as I like. O Mother of Jesus, you look at us and love us as your children, and as the brothers of your Son Jesus, and the same heart, and you will forever love and love us the same way You love Him. That's why (my dear brother) in all your business needs,
afflictions and perplexities, have recourse to the Heart of our charitable Mother. Her heart always takes care of us and over the smallest things that affect us. This is a Heart so full of goodness, meekness, mercy and generosity that never any of those who invoked with humility and trust, is not returned without consolation. This is a very generous heart, very strong and very powerful to fight our enemies, to repel and destroy everything harmful, to obtain from God whatever he asked, and to fill us with all kinds of richness.

Silent meditation

Let’s pray with St John-Eudes:

LOVE WITH JESUS’ HEART
«Love God, love your neighbor; This is only one single Love»
Oh Jesus, you love us so much
it is madness to love as you love us!
You love us with all your heart, with all your being.
You are CHARITY.
Your love is without measure.
You prefer our interests to yours.
Your life, your time,
all that you are and all that you have,
you give it to us.
You're subject to suffering and death
to lead us to happiness.
You ask us to have a heart
with our next whatsoever.
Each, for you, especially the smallest,
is a part of yourself, a member of your body.
You ask us to love
the same heart and the same love
we love thee, our God.
I give myself to you,
I look the other way you look,
out of your heart;
I love the way you like.
Tirelessly, support me.

St John-Eudes: O.C. I, p.257-260

Let’s pray:

God our Father, you chose Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be our model of holiness, Grant us to always wear a smile in your heart and offer it to those we meet on our journey on our way, especially those who are suffering. We will then open horizons of joy and hope to so many people discouraged, needing both understanding tenderness.
