On Sunday November 10th, 2013, at Sperone, Avellino,
near Naples, in the parish church of The Prophet Elijah, during the Eucharist
at 11:30 am, the following persons were present: Fr. Camilo Bernal, the General
Superior; Fr. Luc Crepy, the General Vicar and the Local Superior; Fr.
Alexander Echeverry, General Secretary and Coordinator of the Associates Group;
Fr. Edgardo Figueroa, the local local Treasurer; Fr. Sylva Compagny and Fr.
Leonardo Arboleda. In the presence of the aforementioned membership of the Eudist
Association was granted to Fr. Reinaldo Ariño Plata, the pastor of Sperone, Mrs
Napolitano Santina, Mr. Francesco Colucci
and Francesco Catalupo.
The new associates have grown and developed during their
training period, which focused on their Christian life with the guidance and
support of the Eudist priests from the General House in Rome.
During the celebration, after the Homily offered by
the General Superior, the new members were called to stand and read in unison
the commitment of membership as part of the admission to the Eudist
Association.
Soon after, they signed the agreement in the
Associates books and were followed by the Eudist priests who were present for
the occasion.
There was a large participation of the faithful who welcomed
proceedings with profound happiness and joy. This event can be considered
"historic" not only for the people in Sperone but also for Italy, because
the new associates are the first Italians to receive the honour of being
associated with the Congregation of Jesus and Mary, united to the Heart of
Jesus and Mary and united to the Holiness of St. John Eudes.
At the end of the celebration, the faithful wanted to
personally meet the Eudist priests to
show their closeness to and appreciation for the work carried out on a daily
basis. They also wanted to thank the priests for sharing the spirituality of
St. John Eudes with them and also for having a relic of the saint enthroned
within their parish church.
