Prayer of September 19th 2014

prepared by the group « Sud Essonne » - Province of France

In this month of September which is for us the one of the pastoral start, we want to thank God for all the times we have lived in the Eudist family since July. To begin with, for the first time for the Province of France, the first retreat incorporated, friends, associates and collaborators took place, led by Sister Marie-Hélène Halligon from Notre Dame de Charité du Bon Pasteur. Her experience near human victims of the slave trade echoed to a meditation on mercy and compassion. In August the Bogota congress was for our French delegation a discovery and a joy to meet the AACE fron other provinces who live intensely their baptismal engagements inspired by Saint Jean Eudes’s spirituality. These events showed the human and spiritual riches we have to share. Even if we are not all engaged in fighting against the human slave trade or in solidarity actions, these shared realities feed every one’s prayer. Together, we can repeat or sing « Listen to God’s voice » ( or another hymn at your choice)

First verse and refrain

On September 14th and 15th the Church liturgy invited us to meditate on the sufferings of Christ and his Mother during these 2 days celebrating the glorious Cross and Our Lady of Sufferings. Let’s read and meditate Saint Jean Eudes’s text for the Friday (chap XIII 5th part of Life and Kingdom) whose title is « About Jesus’s sufferings and death »

Each group gives its own intentions of prayers

We also offer you, our Lord, all the divided families because of wars in Ukraine, Syrie, Gaza and some African countries.

Same hymn (following verse and refrain)

Foll all the mothers who suffer at seeing their child die because of all illness or in the wars, let’s look at Mary at the foot of the Cross and confide her the sufferings of the world, the work of all those in the Eudist family who fight against the difficulties and injustices and the life and the engagement of our groups for peace and dignity.

Reading from Saint Jean Chap XIX 25-27

Silence

In September 2013 Pope François insisting on the comtemplation of the Cross said: « It is only in
contemplating Jesus’s suffering humanity that we can become mild humble, gentle like Him. There is no other way. Indeed we must do our best to look for Jesus to think of his Passion of all he suffered, to think of his gentle silence. That will be our effort after that He will think of the rest and do what is missing. But you must do that: hide your life in God with Christ ».

Same hymn

Then let’s confide to Mary’s heart all our intentions in saying Saint Jean Paul II’s prayer

O Mother of mercy, we confide to your heart and your love the all humanity and our earthly Church.
Keep us from all injustice, all division, all violence and all war.
Keep us from temptation and from the slavery of sin and evil. Be with us!
Help us to defeat doubt by faith, selfishness by service, pride by mansuetude, hate by love.
Help us to live the Gospel and the folly of the Cross so that we could ressuscitate with your Son to the true life with the Father in the unity of Holy Spirit.
O Mother of Christ, be our comfort and give strength to all those who suffer: the poor, the lonely ones, the sick, the unloved, the forsaken.
Give peace to our divided world and to all the light of hope.
God bless us and take care of us!
