Certificates of Appreciation
The Narong and Virginia Tanawong & the Hospitality Team
St. John Eudes church has a reputation for hospitality, but what many parishioners may not know is the degree to which this is underpinned by the service given by Narong and Virginia Tanawong and their hospitality team. Whenever there is an event that involves food – funeral receptions, ministry meetings, special events or parish celebrations - you will find Virginia and Narong tirelessly leading their team in the preparation and service of the food.
While the Multicultural Mass is a team effort, the team has been ably led by Narong and Virginia for
many years, and is now a much anticipated and loved liturgy. They also have led parish teams to work at the Catholic Worker kitchen in downtown Los Angeles, spearheaded the parish service day at MEND and been an integral part of Sunday hospitality and Sandwich Sunday. Another of their projects is the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl.
They put into action the words of St. Teresa of Avila who said that God “has no body but ours and no hands but ours so we must act for Him.”
The SJE Facilities Committee
The men of the St. John Eudes Facilities Committee are the unsung, invisible heroes of St. John
Eudes Church. Their skills and talents have saved the church and school uncounted thousands of dollars in plumbing, electrical, cabinetry and general maintenance work.
The committee has built and installed many features at St. John Eudes church and school: the rails on the predella used by the Eucharistic Ministers; the rails on the Cantors platform; the electromechanical controls that the Liturgical Ministers uses to raise and lower the crucifix; the Unity Candle Stand used at weddings; the Advent Candle Stand; the beautiful new cabinet for storage of holy oils; construction of new desks and counters for the Parish Office; construction of a new stand for the Infant Jesus of Prague, construction of a new platform for the fountain in the Plaza, and maintenance of the Memorial Garden.
They are involved in continued work to maintain the school and Parish which results in keeping the activities of the parish community running smoothly, thereby enhancing the liturgies, social and spiritual life of St. John Eudes Church.
