RGS hosts motorcycle group

The Good Shepherd Convent at Quezon City hosted some 300 motorcycle riders from Metro Manila and nearby provinces for a thanksgiving Mass and a short program on July 9.

Mio Soul i Nation, an organization of Yamaha motorcycle owners in the Philippines, held its “Makabuluhang Paglalakbay 2017” event to promote volunteerism among its members and to learn more about the women situation in the country. The group’s Metro QC chapter organized the event in partnership with Ministry Office and SMEIDFI. At least ten chapters of the group representing members from Metro Manila, Rizal, Quezon Province, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, and Bulacan participated in the event filling the convent compound with hundreds of motorcycles and riders. Some sisters in the compound as well as the girls from Ruhama Center for Women and Euphrasian Community joined the activity.

The thanksgiving Mass was presided by Rev. Fr. Gideon Lagrimas, OAR. During the offertory, members presented their gifts of sacks of rice, grocery items, hygiene materials, used clothes, and cash. The accumulated donations from the group was shared among Ruhama Center for Women, Euphrasian Community, Heart of Mary Villa, and Welcome House Paco.

In her welcome speech, Sr. Regina Kuizon, RGS, province leader, invited the riders to look into the meaning of life as a journey and the situations where some people are left behind in this journey like the women and girls who have fallen to violence and human trafficking. She urged the group to continue the good work they have started in loving and helping those who are left behind.

Mr. Marlon Sanchez, president of Mio Soul i Nation, gave an introduction about the beginning, culture, mission, and vision of the group.

Sr. Carmen Diana Cabasagan, RSG gave a short women situationer and talked on women questions. In her talk, she challenged the group to be more sensitive on gender roles and rights.

The event concluded with a lunch hosted by the group.

Makabuluhang Paglalakbay is an annual charity event of the Mio Soul i Nation.
