In anticipation to the liturgical feast of St. Leo the Great, the St. Leo community gathered around the altar to give thanks to the Lord for the 75th year anniversary of the mission in Solana Beach, California. The principal celebrant for the Mass was the Bishop of San Diego, Most. Fr. Gerard Lecomte, CJM and Fr. John Howard, CJM concelebrated the Mass in the presence of the entire St. Leo community.
The St. Leo mission is under the pastoral care of the Eudist Fathers in the US Region. The animation of the mission is done by our beloved Sister Zita Toto, RGS from Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd. She is the pillar of this mission and has guided the community for many years. Her leadership and support are greatly appreciated.
The St. Leo mission serves the Spanish speaking community in Solana Beach, California. At St. Leo’s mission, the community gathers around the altar of the Lord to listen to his Word and to break bread every Sunday. They also gather for prayer, faith formation and community events.
Since the arrival of the Eudist Fathers, the community has flourished and forms part of the greater Catholic community in Solana Beach, California. The presence of Bishop Robert McElroy was a blessing for the entire community.
